Right In The Fairway DraftKings Fort Worth Invitational Picks Of The Week

The PGA Tour stays in Texas this week, after Aaron Wise won in impressive fashion last week at Trinity Forest, and heads to the Colonial for the Fort Worth Invitational. I am not sure if I have said this before, but I love to fade guys who won the previous week, and this case especially with Wise getting his first Tour win, that kid just won $1.3 million so I don’t think the Fort Worth Invitational is really on his list of things he cares about this week. That being said, Wise is an absolute stud and I have a feeling that this kid is going to be a mainstay at the top of leaderboards for years to come. I mean, if you look at his stats from last week you will see that this was no anomaly, and Aaron is here to stay. The ONLY thing that scares me about Wise is the fact that after winning that amount of money, and being on top of the golf world for at least a week, and he STILL gets put in the “friend zone” is not a good look, but enough about last week.
Jailbreakthrough 👊
Mind boggling stats for Aaron Wise this week:
— 50/56 Fairways
— 66/72 GIR
— 402 yards: Longest Drive
— 2nd in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee
— 1st in Strokes Gained: Approach To Green pic.twitter.com/I24yJrjYVs— Callaway Golf (@CallawayGolf) May 21, 2018

With defending champion, Kevin Kisner, Spieth, Fowler, Rose, and Rahm highlighting the field this week at Colonial, this field is sneaky strong and should make for some compelling golf this weekend, even though you will all probably be on the golf course yourselves. That does not mean however that you still can’t win some money to pay for all the golf you are going to play and alcohol you are going to drink this weekend, so let’s find a couple golfers that are prime to perform well here at the Fort Worth Invitational. Really, the most important stat I am looking this week for my golfers to possess is an innate ability to hit greens in regulation, and hope that a couple of these guys can get the putter going and put a beatdown on Colonial. I think the guys I picked for this week have great upside, and like my obvious pick, may not be looked at as a contender because of recent struggles, but when everything is clicking, they have all the ability in the world to win this week.

Obvious Pick of the Week
Rickie Fowler $10,400
Ok, so maybe Rickie is not an OBVIOUS pick based on his performance this year, and especially coming off a missed cut at THE PLAYERS, I understand he is not in great form. However, Rickie is still one of the most talented players on Tour, and his problem has not been getting to the green, where he ranks 13th on Tour in Greens in Reg, but rather it has been his flat stick this year that has troubled him. Ranking 133rd in SG: Putting, this is not the Rickie I know and love, and I may be biased, but I am ready to see the unconscious putter I have seen in the past like at his wins at Sawgrass, and the Honda. I need to see Rickie in his Sunday Orange, complemented by the plaid jacket that is donned on the winner of the Fort Worth Invitational.
Gut Guy of the Week
Chesson Hadley $8,300
Snaps for Hadley! Famous on the circuit for his snaps after big putts, I expect Chesson to be snapping left and right this week at Colonial. I may not be going out on much of limb here by saying that I am hoping for a solid performance out of Hadley this week, because he has finished inside the Top-20 in his last 6 events, but I think this is the week he puts it all together. Ranking one of the best on Tour this year in SG: Approach to Green (4th), and Proximity (7th), look for Chesson to throw some darts at these Colonial greens. Let’s hope that Hadley snaps his way to a W, and a big pay day for those who put him in their DK lineups this week.

Value Pick of the Week
Chez Reavie $7,600
Chez certainly will not wow you with how far he hits the ball, but damn does that guy hit fairways like its his job, at a 72.22% clip, which is good enough for 3rd on Tour. It is hell of a lot easier to hit greens in reg, and closer to the hole when you are hitting your second shots from the fairway, so I think Reavie will have plenty of success this week at Colonial. With Colonial tipping out at around 7,200 yards, I think this is a perfect course for Chez to play well, and for the $7,600 he is a must have in your daily fantasy lineups, and don’t hate him at +8000 to win either.
One more time.
