A buddy of mine said on twitter last week, “College Baseball Postseason is the second best postseason in sports” and I ridiculed him for the comment… Well, a big man admits when he’s wrong… and I am that big man. I was wrong. What a great weekend (Admittedly, I #StayBiased)!!! So I’m gonna break down the chaotic paths of the 16 teams still alive, and who I expect to arrive in Omaha next week.

This weekend, there were upwards of 50-60 baseball games, and I tried my damnedest to watch as many as possible. Friday, working from home to watch my Mississippi State Bulldogs get DRUMMED by Oklahoma 20-10, only to follow them the rest of the weekend and into Monday at the office, where they took the Tallahassee regional.. WOOOH BOYS!!!!! But it all started Saturday, down 2 in the bottom of the 9th vs Florida St in an elimination game… when the Miss St RF’er goes fucking YARD with 2 on and 2 outs… walking off the host-team, and knocking Mike Martin’s old ass into another offseason. Anyways, after running through the loser’s bracket and eliminating every team in the regional, MSU is on to the round of 16, headed to Nashville to play Vandy. #HailState #SuckItOU
So Florida is the #1 overall seed… and with a small blurp Monday afternoon, losing to FAU, they went on to win their late Monday evening game. They played relatively no-name programs, but FAU did take one from them, and they were the ones to eliminate their other two. FAU lost their best player to the draft roughly around the same time they lost their last game of the season.. Tough ending, but as expected. Florida rolls on to host Auburn this weekend.
This was NC State’s regional, having a solid season in the ACC (despite their conference shitting the bed in postseason), they were deserving of the host spot. What made it difficult for them was that they were paired with a brutally strong Auburn squad. Not only do they have the best pitcher in baseball, but they have talent at the plate as well. They steamrolled the water-logged regional, and won it on Sunday, without NC State or the weaker teams putting up much of a fight. GLBOL vs O’Sullivan this weekend, I fucking hate that guy.
Texas Tech was nearly impossible to stop this weekend. It was hot as shit in Texas this weekend, and so were the Red Raiders… They had big stick opponents in Louisville and Kent St. but no one could slow down the train once they got rolling. Every over hit in their games, and they rolled through Louisville in Gm 4. Texas Tech now gets to host Duke because of what broke down in the Athens regional.
Man, this regional was a fun one to watch…. Duke was on the ropes from the first elimination game all the way through Monday. They were down 3-4 runs to Campbell on a Sunday afternoon (rain out Monday), only to come back in the 9th and score like 12 fucking runs to beat them and send them on their way home. But it didn’t end there… Troy was the next victim. Similar to MSU, when Duke got rolling and came back to save their season, they trounced Troy in a hitting fest, and knocked them out Sunday evening… setting up a head to head with UGA for the right to move on. Well Monday wasn’t kind to the Dawgs (Georgia ones… Monday was great to the Ms State Dawgs). Overs were covered, and games were swept. The Duke bats didn’t die down after a big Sunday, and they steamrolled UGA in back to back games with help from Jeff Conine’s kid going yard twice (KID RAKES), which helped carry Duke to the Supers this weekend.
Nothing to see here… Arkansas takes care of business. USM didn’t hold up to the hype throughout the season, saw an early exit thanks to Dallas-Baptist, who has sneakily become a solid club over the last 5-10 years. Anyways, Arky rolls… Onward to the Supers, where they will meet SEC foe, South Carolina.
This regional was one I caught almost no action of. The weather was sloppy all over the east coast this weekend, so keeping up with those games was difficult. In the end, South Carolina took care of UNCW in Gm 4 on Monday, and wrapped up the regional fairly smoothly. East Carolina took some L’s, including to UNC-Wilmington, and I guess that’s an upset, but really I can’t tell with all the small schools just one state apart… Anyways, SC as the 2 seed comes out of the regional, and will go to Arky this weekend.

Texas is filthy. The regional highlight was supposed to be A&M fighting it out with in-state rival Texas… Well that wasn’t much of a fight. Texas A&M couldn’t get out of their own way all weekend, and had an early exit. Indiana tried to scare the Longhorns, but the filthy pitching combo, and The Rocket’s All American son, Koby Clemens… proved to be too much for the Hoosiers. Texas won the regional in Gm 4, and now get to host Tennessee Tech because of the end of a crazy Oxford Regional.
This was a crazy regional. I thought going into this, Ole Miss was a threat to win the National Championship. They could hit the shit out of the ball, and had pitchers getting drafted in the early rounds… piece this with the dude in the bullpen who was a bulldozer, and that’s a recipe for success. That is unless you run into a hard hitting Tennessee Tech team (WHO THE FUCK IS THAT?), that managed to eliminate Missouri State late Sunday night (rain delays) to set up a second matchup with Ole Miss on Monday. Well, when they played the first game, TTU rolled the Rebs to earn a late afternoon game with a Supers spot on the line. The game was the opposite of expectation… a low scoring, pitching duel, in a Game 5, and a 3 inning-save for the LEFT FIELDER… led TTU to win game 5 and eliminate Ole Miss. Now they head to Austin to take on Texas in the Super Regionals.
Outside of having a pedophile on the team, Oregon State didn’t see much of a threat this weekend. They rolled LSU twice, by 10 runs… and everyone fell in line. The one seed wins, and now hosts Minnesota this weekend.
The Golden Gophers are good at baseball… whoda thunk it? They had a highly touted UCLA 2-seed, but that didn’t stop Minnesota from rolling through their regional in game 4 (while covering the over), and on to their first super regional ever. Nicely done GG, good luck this weekend vs OSU.
Deland is apparently where Stetson University is located… coulda fooled me. Stetson’s pitching and batting were too much to handle for anyone. Okie St tried, but failed, and Stetson is headed to Chapel Hill to play National seed UNC.
Chapel Hill Regional
Death, Taxes, UNC a national seed…. Certainties in life. They do what they always do, and won their regional. Beating a sleeper team in Houston, after they came back on Purdue Sunday morning. UNC wins, same ol’ same ol’… now they host Stetson this weekend.

Vandy bats were ALIVE this weekend. Holy shit… They posted a 17 spot on National Seed-Clemson in game 4, to knock the Tigers out of their own Regional. They actually beat em twice, and with the help of their white-hot bats, they are now a threat to go all the way to Omaha. This weekend they will pair up with SEC foe and National POWERHOUSE, Mississippi State. I hope they get swept in 2 games, quick fast & in a hurry. Suck It Vandy.
Washington went across the country and beat the shit out of folks. The overs were slam dunks in this regional. Washington beat up on UCONN and Coastal Carolina to steal CCU’s regional. Wasn’t too fun to watch without a dog in the fight, which is why you always bet the overs. Keeps you entertained. Washington heads to Fullerton, CA to play best of 3 with CSF.

Stanford got cucked AGAIN by now-rival, Cal St-Fullerton. CSF went on the road, beat Stanford twice, and never took an L the whole weekend. The #2 National seed fell AGAIN to the same foe, on the same field, making Rick Vanderhook the new mayor of Stanford, CA and the daddy to the Cardinal baseball program. Now they get to host another Pac-12 opponent, but on their home field.
So Since we wrapped up the Regionals, who do we expect to see in Omaha next week? This is my guess.. Mind you, I don’t get paid like Aaron Fitt & Kendall Rogers, so really I’m basing this off just the last week of baseball.
MSU @ Vandy: MSU in 3. #HailState #RallyBanana
Auburn @ Florida: Auburn in 3. They can outduel Florida, and have the bats to match em.
Duke @ Texas Tech: Tech in 2. The bats are too much to stop at home.
USCar @ Arky: USC in 3. I did this strictly for 811.
Tenn Tech @ Texas: Texas in 3. Their pitching is filthy, and should be able to hit TTU.
Minn @ Oregon St: Oregon St in 2. They looked the most impressive of anyone this week.
Stetson @ UNC: Stetson in 3. UPSET CITY!!!! One time Stetson!
Wash @ CSF: CSF in 2. I’m betting on Jumbo Chamberlain, Bc I wanna see him in Omaha.
Good luck to everyone this weekend, except Vandy. Fuck them. See y’all in Omaha! #HailState
