Omaha Bound!!! The College World Series Is Set

WHAT A WEEKEND!!! I recapped the 16 Regionals and gave a prediction for my Omaha 8 last week… Well i was 4-4, with the most important pick coming to fruition. The teams that are set for the weekend are as follows: MISSISSIPPI STATE, Washington, Oregon St, UNC, Texas, Texas Tech, Florida (because of some true bullshit), and Arkansas.

The SEC has exuded its athletic prowess once again… They were guaranteed three teams, because the six that made it to the Supers were paired against each other, vying for the spots in the College World Series. Well let’s look at those series, then look at the others.. and talk business.
The Mississippi State-Vandy series lived up to the hype of postseason baseball. Both teams had walk-off wins in the bottom of the ninth in the first two games, setting up a rubber match for the ages. Most thought that with a tired, worn down bullpen, Mississippi State would be at a disadvantage going against a Vandy team & bullpen who seemed to have all been drafted in the first 7 damn rounds. Well… JOKE IS ON YOU!!! Cole Gordon dragged his nuts across the face of everyone in Nashville with his middle relief efforts, and Mayor-Mangum in the bottom of the 9th proved why he will be forever loved by our school. Sadly, Riley Self blew a 3 run lead that El Capitan helped build in the T9, but it led to free baseball, late on a Sunday night. Well, it didn’t last too terribly long, as Dawgs reeled off 4 runs via nickel, diming Vandy’s supposed vicious bullpen in the 11th, and the boys held on to clinch. Suck it Nerds!!! We won, and are now on our way to Omaha… Pretty crazy to think about it when you look back at this MSU Team. First we get swept by the ugly cousin of the state, then we fired our adulterous coach for being a POS, started out 2-7 in conference play, and didn’t play at home until mid-March, NOT TO MENTION- 3 Super Regionals, 3 straight years, with 3 different head coaches…”DON’T TELL ME THIS TEAM (TOWN) AIN’T GOT NO HEART…. YOU JUST GOTTA POKE AROUND.” HAIL STATE! Keep Grinding, and believe in your leader Jake “The Mayor” Mangum.

That wasn’t the only series to make some noise over the weekend… While UNC rolled Stenson, and Oregon St worked Minnesota… The two Texas teams took care of their lesser opponents in 3 games but IDGAF about either of them. The SEC pairings all lived up to the hype. Monday was made for game 3’s and while Arky showed up vs South Carolina, it seems the Gamecocks were left with just that, in their hands… They were worked in game 3, getting romped by 10 in an elimination game. But that’s not what i wanna talk about…

Florida & Auburn, who both had great seasons & players drafted high on the board in the MLB draft were in a knockdown, drag out fight into the wee hours of Monday night/Tuesday morning trying to clinch the final spot in Omaha. Well it ended in the most jaw-dropping, feel-bad story in history. Ol boy for Florida ropes one to the warning track in right field, only to have the RF overplay the ball, and pull a Canseco, having the ball bounce off his glove and over the fence, giving Florida the walk-off homer to go to Omaha. While we would usually kick this kid while he’s down.. I just don’t have it in me.. I’m too happy, too busy planning Omaha BnB’s and tickets. So instead I will say congrats to the Gators, and sorry to the Booger-eaters.. Maybe next time.
Obviously the most fitting way to send the No. 1 seed into the final #CWS spot! 🤯

In addition to those Supers… Cal St Fullerton got beat in 3 games by a Washington Huskies team that is hot at the plate, and has a pitcher who was throwing a no-no well into the night vs CSF earlier in the series. These guys, while new to the Omaha party, are a force to be reckoned with. I hope MSU when they pair with the Huskies Saturday night, don’t take them lightly. Every team is riding hot streaks and something is bound to give for someone, lets just hope it’s not the good guys, especially early in the tourney.
Huskies will have a #CWS History!

In summation, Praise the Lord & Go Dawgs. It’s time to focus on what’s ahead. Look for me, the MSU faithful and thousands of our closest friends this weekend in Omaha, and lets cheer the Maroon-dogs to victory. Also, look for Hash Sports swag being worn in the outfield, because I don’t go anywhere without my company’s logo pasted across my chest. #HailState #OmahaBound
