No More One And Done’s!

This past season for the Arizona Wildcats Basketball team was a tumultuous one. The entire Wildcat family, from fans, players and coaches felt like they were on a roller coaster all season long. There were so many ups and downs turns and twists, which ultimately led to a disappointing first round loss in the NCAA tournament. People let their emotions get the best of them after that loss, including myself. I even wrote an article suggesting that the U of A should really consider getting rid of Miller. Unless something else comes from the allegations against Miller, it looks like he is here to stay. With that being said, I am left to ask the question… what is next for Arizona Basketball?
Everyone knows what kind of recruiter Sean Miller is. He has the ability to pull talent that every frat boy in Tucson would be jealous of. But, with talent comes egos and that was 100% clear this past season. I am not trying to talk shit or stir the pot, but it was clear that Ayton, Trier and Alkins were focused more on the NBA than the NCAA tournament. In my opinion, this has been Millers downfall with Arizona… the one and dones. Miller had success at Xavier because he was able to create chemistry with the same group of kids year after year. This is what Miller needs to go back to. Go back to what worked. Stop trying to compete with Kentucky and Duke. Start going after the kids North Carolina and Villanova have been going after. The kids who are really good at basketball, but also want an education and actually want to win a NCAA title. Do I have to remind you that there were ZERO one and done players in the Final Four this year? They may be fun as hell to watch, but it takes a special kind of coach to get through to those type of players, and honestly I am not sure a person of that caliber really exists.
