Going into this series, I knew the Celtics were a great team, even without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. However, I didn’t know they were this good. Yes, it’s only one game, so I don’t want to overreact, but at the same time it’s hard not to. That was an absolute massacre on the court yesterday.
This was a 25 point game, 108-83!!! What makes this even more insane is that these Celtics are so young and inexperienced, and they’re playing like they’ve been here a million times. Imagine what the future holds if they’re doing this now… WITHOUT 2 ALL STARS.
Coming into this game, I was looking forward to seeing how LeBron James would play, especially right after Marcus Morris said he’s the best LeBron defender besides Kawhi Leonard. Shockingly, Marcus Morris out played him… and it wasn’t close. Here were the stat lines:
Marcus Morris: 21 points, 10 rebounds, +25
LeBron James: 15 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds, -32
It wasn’t only Marcus Morris that played well for Boston. Jaylen Brown scored 23 points, Al Horford scored 20, and Jayson Tatum dropped 16. The Celtic fans were absolutely loving it as well. I think we got an all-time video/GIF out of this game too.

As great as the Celtics played this game, all we heard from ESPN was that LeBron memorized a few plays in a row during the game and spit it out to the reporters at the press conference. Here was the video.

I’m sorry, but anyone who thinks this is a big deal has issues. If you played sports, you know that you would be able to do the same exact thing right after a game.
I picked the Cavaliers to win in 6. After Game 1, it’s clear that if the Cavs want to have any chance of winning this series, they’re going to have to make some massive adjustments before Game 2. The Celtics are a better version of the Pacers in terms of the way they move the ball and play team defense, and the Pacers took the Cavs to 7 games.
We’ll see how this plays out the rest of the series, but the Cavs and LeBron better wake up soon. And just an afterthought… Wow the Toronto Raptors are absolutely horrendous.
