Since the NHL’s full season strike in the 2004-2005 season, the popularity of the NHL and hockey in general has gone downhill. We all know who we have to thank for this: David Stern’s rat puppet, Gary Bettman. Bettman has made a number of questionable moves and has had a huge roll in three labor stoppages… You know what may be worse than the actual lockout in 2004-2005? The way Bettman handled the game’s comeback. He started off by signing a TV deal with the Outdoor Network instead of figuring out a way to keep the NHL on ESPN. This cock sucker put all of hockey on channels that 99% of people don’t even know if they have, and if they do fucking have it… its channel 43543967. You know you are screwed when ESPN was showing soccer and WWE highlights instead of the NHL. Fuck, even the great mullet of Barry Melrose seemed to be blackballed. Since then, The Outdoor Network and Versus (the network that the Outdoor Network changed too) no longer exist and ESPN is, well, ESPN. Good call on that one Mr. Bettman.
Now on to Mr. Bettman’s latest antics. Not allowing NHL players to partake in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang (not PF Changs as WLS-Channel 7 recently thought). What the hell is he thinking…especially after the buzz Olympic Hockey made in Russia. Do I have to remind you about TJ Oshie? Some random unknown American hockey player who happens to take 6 shootout attempts (making 4) in an epic battle with the Russians on their home ice, who went from a decently attractive man (as hockey players go), to making American women wet in about 5 minutes.
The buzz of hockey seemed to be back and the game seemed to be gaining momentum. So why in God’s name would you stunt the growth of the sport by not allowing the best in the world to compete? Give us what both the players and fans want! I am now forced to watch mediocre hockey. Yes these kids have heart, but I don’t care about heart, heart only gives us an OT loss to Slovakia… I want to see Sid the Kid, Nathan Mackinnon, Alex Ovechkin, Patrick Kane and potentially some random guy showing off their stuff, and no I don’t mean their junk. As a fan of the NHL and hockey in general, it’s a risk I am willing to take and something I look forward to every 4 years. THANK YOU MR. BETTMAN FOR FUCKING UP MANY WET DREAMS, NOT ONLY IN AMERICA, BUT AROUND THE WORLD.
Ovi with a shoutout to Gary Bettman for not letting NHL’ers in the olympics this year. 😤😤👏 pic.twitter.com/WqGnzIhOo7
