France Wins The 2018 World Cup; Now We Have To Wait Another 4.5 Years For The Next One

Before I get into things here, let me congratulate France on winning the 2018 World Cup. Being the best soccer country in the world has to be an amazing feeling, and I’m sure France is losing their minds right now. Maybe one day we’ll be able to experience this in the United States (just kidding we never will). In addition, I bet France to win the World Cup prior the start of the tournament, so that’s a nice bonus.
While this year’s World Cup was one of the best ever played, there is no worse feeling then such a great tournament like this being over after a month, and realizing you have to wait so long for the next one. The next World Cup isn’t in 4 years from now, but rather 4.5 years from now. Due to the 2022 World Cup being played in Qatar, where it gets way too hot during the summer, the tournament will be played in mid-November through mid-December. Qatar will be building 8 new stadiums in time for the next World Cup.
First of all, it’s crazy to think about where you’ll be in four years. Right now I’m 20 years old, going into my junior year of college, and when the next World Cup is played I’ll be nearly 25. That’s a long time, it’s wild to think about. Who knows where we’ll all be at that point? Maybe Hash Sports will be a Fortune 500 company and we’ll all be at the World Cup Final in Qatar. You never know.
Second of all, I’m not in favor of the World Cup being played during football and basketball season, where there’s going to be so much going on at once. The good thing about this is that Qatar is 7 hours ahead of Eastern time in the U.S, so most games will be played in the morning here just like this year’s World Cup. This way, there will be no conflicts with other sports except on Saturday and Sunday. What a busy time that’s going to be.
The next time there’s a summer World Cup is 8 years from now, where the tournament will be in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Also, Kylian Mbappe will only be 27 at the time of that World Cup, which is absolutely wild.
The bottom line is that it’s a terrible feeling that such a great tournament is over. However, The Open Championship starts Thursday, so you can rely on a ton of good content coming with that tournament just around the corner.
