I waited to write this because I had heard Witten had toiled back and forth on if he would return for his 16th season with the Cowboys this offseason. I woke up to news that it was official, JDub is retiring to take a job with ESPN in the booth for Monday Night Football. Let me be the first to say “Great Fucking Call”!!! Rumor is that ESPN will pay him more than 2x his yearly salary this year, so why the hell wouldn’t he do it?
ESPN reportedly is offering Jason Witten more than twice what he'd make if he plays https://t.co/cj3LzYrG2c

Yes.. Yes.. I get that you want to pursue a last attempt to win a Super Bowl before your good years are behind us, but… if anyone had watched Jason play in the last few years, I always thought he was one hit away from being in the morgue anyway. He looked like he had sticks taped to his legs, and his knees couldn’t bend… he looked almost like a statue and every short out-route was gonna be the last one for his lower body.

Luckily he came out the other end nearly unscathed. He will be a first ballot HOF’er, he will be honored with a bust in Jerry World, and his name/number retired in Jerry’s Ring of Honor. Hell, I bet he even gets an inspirational quote on one of the walls of the practice center. He ranks atop all the record books for receivers in Cowboys history, and is ranked #4 among all receivers in career receptions in NFL history.
He had a helluva career, and we wish him nothing but the best… Enjoy the Cowboys Retirement Center, aka sports media. Thank You Mr Reliable!
