Baker Mayfield Hung Up On Legendary NFL Agent, Bus Cook, For Not Doing His Research

“Bus Cook, Brett Favre’s agent, great story. Every agent does the same thing, they give their résumé, what they’re about, all this stuff,” Mayfield said, via DieHards.com. “Finally, when he was about to give me a chance to talk, he asked, ‘So, when did [former head coach] Bob Stoops start recruiting you?’ And I said ‘Excuse me?’ and then he repeated the question.”
“I just said, ‘I gotta go’ and then I hung up,” Mayfield recalled. “It’s like, if you’re going to pursue a guy and say that you want him and you want to be that guy that’s going to be there for him, why not do your research?”- NY Post
Love this move by my boy Baker Mayfield. Sorry Bus (what kind’ve name is Bus anyway?), but Baker does not give a rat’s ass that you have represented guys like Brett Favre, Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, and many more legends of the game. If you are going after one of, if not, the most polarizing players in this year’s NFL Draft, you gotta do your research Bus. If you have watched at least one of Baker’s games during his time at OU you would know his story. He was a walk-on at Texas Tech, then that idiot Kliff Kingsbury decided he wasn’t worth wasting a scholarship on, so Baker transferred to OU and the rest is history.
This would be a non-story if it were anyone else, but Baker Mayfield has been playing with a chip on his shoulder since high school. Too small, too short, too slow, not athletic enough… these are only a few of the knocks he had against him. Well after becoming maybe the best quarterback in OU history (which includes names like Jason White, Josh Heupel and Sam Bradford) the guy deserves some goddamn respect!
